You may view leaders as egocentric, and that may be true for some of them. However, in its purest form, leadership encompasses the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and consider the needs of others. Leaders have the necessary discipline to keep practicing their skills, and they strive to encourage and inspire others around them.

Having these qualities and skills can suit you well in daily life. Your future, success, and well-being depend on these skills that you have or are working to have. Remember, leadership creates opportunities, and allows one to secure new paths and avenues towards the end goal. Leadership is the culmination of a great set of habits.

Students should be considered with high regard, as they could be the next leaders of their time. Strong leadership allows students to achieve their dreams and goals. That means there should be leadership examples both at school and home for students to follow. To demonstrate the effect of persuasive leadership examples that students may or may not be exposed, we’ll choose three random students in a classroom to explore. Let’s call them Student 1, Student 2, and Student 3. For control, we’ll say that the teacher manages the class well enough but hasn’t been the best example of strong leadership for his students.

Student 1 has two successful parents who instilled in her core values, beliefs, respect, and expectations of doing well in school. They continually boost her confidence and make her feel valued at home.

Student 2 has a twin sibling who loves to work together with student 2 in all that they do; they figure out life’s problems together, study, spend quality time and have a life long friendship. Student 3 has average parents who do their best but didn’t have great examples, don’t spend much time with him, and he’s left home alone to fend for himself a lot.

In the example, the teacher goes over a new topic. She teaches the lesson and asks if anyone has any questions. Student 1 asks several questions throughout the lesson, and student 2 asks the twin sibling for help understanding topics and clarification, and student 3 asks no questions.

When the teacher assigns a homework assignment on the lesson, students 1 and 2 get high marks, and student 3 gets mediocre marks. Why do you believe that is? Well, students 1 and 2 had the confidence to ask questions when they didn’t understand, plus they had the support of influential leaders when needed. Student 3 did their best with what they understood about the lesson but didn’t seek clarification on confusing parts.

This is, of course, an over-simplified example, but it adequately demonstrates the point. Students may have unique and varying experiences with leadership examples, but any leadership examples are better than none. That’s why it’s essential to be a great leader if you’re within the education system – some students may not have access to the primary examples that will give them the mindset needed to succeed elsewhere.

There’s no telling how far you can go with a great set of leadership skills. You may be able to take the company you work for to new success that was previously not thought possible. Whether you come across leadership in your friend group are thinking more along the lines of the leaders of our company, leadership affects society. Leaders can be found everywhere, from the school counselor who helps students with adverse life experiences find a path to success, to the men and women of the local police agency who do their best to serve and protect.

On a larger scale, there are elected officials who are meant to lead the country into success. Everyone you turn, there should be examples of exceptional leadership. That’s not always the case, because of course, all leaders are human. Some are doing better than others, some are still developing, and perhaps others shouldn’t be leaders at all.

I want them to grow up believing that they can do anything they set their minds too. I want them to grow up with the confidence it takes to keep trying to solve a problem even when it feels impossible, rather than giving up and accepting whatever happens.

Your why may look like a statement like mine, or it may be a more refined goal. For example, yours maybe – “I want to work my way into upper management and eventually become the CEO of my own company.” It may also be something like, “I want to become as great as possible as communication, listening and understanding people, and helping them to come up with plans that work for them to achieve personal success.”

When you’ve figured out why leadership is crucial to you, you can take actionable steps to develop yourself into the leader you want to be.

Leadership is essential to individuals for many reasons, most notably because you must be in charge of your success. There are not too many people out there who are only going to hand you over your progress on a silver platter.

Later on, as I worked on myself and began my journey of personal development, I gained an awareness that I can only describe as the greatest gift I’ve ever received.

Awareness is the ability to notice things about yourself and what’s going on around you. It’s like developing another sense. It’s a skill so valuable that there are tons and tons of resources all dedicated to helping people build their sense of awareness.
